China Expands Market Access for Bangladeshi Fruits
Chinese ambassador to Bangladesh, Yao Wen, announced that China is now working to open its market for Bangladeshi jackfruit and guava, following the successful entry of fresh mangoes earlier this year.
The envoy said,
“More and more Bangladeshi quality agricultural products are entering the Chinese market. In May this year, the first consignment of fresh Bangladeshi mangoes was successfully exported to China, and we are now working to provide access for jackfruit and guava.”
He made these remarks during the opening ceremony of the Bangladesh-China Green Textile Expo 2025 at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in Dhaka.
Strengthening Trade and Investment Ties
Ambassador Yao Wen highlighted that China has been Bangladesh’s largest trading partner for 15 consecutive years, with bilateral trade exceeding USD 24 billion.

Since August 2024, more than 20 Chinese companies have signed investment deals worth around USD 800 million in Bangladesh. He emphasized that China granted zero-tariff treatment to all Bangladeshi taxable products until 2028, showing Beijing’s commitment to mutual prosperity and development.
Ambassador Yao Wen added,
“China-Bangladesh cooperation is not a zero-sum game but a path toward mutual benefit and improving people’s livelihoods.”
Focus on Green Textile and Sustainable Growth
The ambassador also mentioned that the Green Textile Expo symbolizes a new stage in bilateral economic cooperation. He said China is ready to work closely with Bangladesh to promote eco-friendly textile production, introduce energy-efficient technologies, and enhance the country’s global competitiveness.

Yao Wen further stressed the need for joint efforts in textile machinery, digital printing, and smart manufacturing, aiming to build a sustainable green industrial chain.
Celebrating 50 Years of Diplomatic Friendship
Calling 2025 a “significant year,” the ambassador noted that it marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Bangladesh. He said the friendship between the two nations has always been guided by mutual respect and win-win cooperation.
Ambassador Yao Wen also referred to President Xi Jinping’s Global Governance Initiative (GGI), which supports sovereign equality, multilateralism, and people-centered development — values aligned with the global pursuit of fairness and inclusivity.
