A serious clash broke out between two parties over a comment on a Facebook post in Rupganj, Narayanganj. A total of five people from both sides, including one who was shot, were injured. The clash took place late on Sunday (December 8) night in the Rasulpur area of ​​Ward No. 9 of Tarab Municipality in the upazila.

The young man who was shot was taken to the hospital

Among the injured, Shahidul Islam was rescued from a gunshot wound and was quickly taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Police recovered three rounds of bullet casings from the scene.

The dispute began from a Facebook comment

According to local sources, Sakibul Hasan, son of the deceased Sujat Ali of Rasulpur area, became a member of the Rupganj Human Rights Organization. He posted this matter on his Facebook ID. Mahim, son of Abu Dayen Pradhan of the same area, wrote a comment on that post, writing ‘Chu..ling..pong’.

A fight first broke out between Sakibul and Mahim around 11 pm over this comment. Later, around 2 am, people from both sides engaged in a clash with pistols and country-made weapons.

Houses vandalized and looted

During the clash, people from both sides vandalized and looted several houses. In addition to the bullet-injured Shahidul, four others were injured and are being treated at various local hospitals.

Police are controlling the situation

In this regard, Rupganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tariqul Islam said,
