Nahid Islam, the Chief Whip of the Opposition in Parliament and the convener of the NCP, said,
সংবিধানে এখন অনেক কিছু আছে, যা এই সরকার করছে না। শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানের ছবি টাঙানোর আইন আছে। আরও অনেক আইন এবং বাস্তবতা আছে… সেগুলা কি এই সরকার করছে বা অন্তর্বর্তী সরকার করেছে?
Translation: There are many things in the constitution now that this government is not doing. There is a law to hang Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s picture. There are many other laws and realities… Are they being done by this government or by the interim government?
Nahid told the media on Sunday (March 15). He said,
আমরা আগেও বলেছি অন্তর্বর্তী সরকার, ঐকমত্য কমিশন, এই নির্বাচন ও সরকার—সবকিছুকে সংবিধানের দিয়ে ব্যাখ্যা করা সম্ভব না। এটা গণঅভ্যুত্থানের মধ্যে দিয়ে তৈরি হয়েছে, যদিও ১০৬-এর আন্ডারেই সরকার গঠিত হয়েছে। কিন্তু গণঅভ্যুত্থানের বিষয়টি যদি মাথায় না রাখি তাহলে আসলে কোনো কিছুই সমাধান করা সম্ভব নয়।
Translation: We have said before that the interim government, the consensus commission, this election and the government—it is not possible to explain everything through the constitution. It was created through a mass uprising, although the government was formed under 106. But if we do not keep the issue of the mass uprising in mind, then it is not possible to solve anything.

He added that,
আমরা মনে করি, গণঅভ্যুত্থান সংস্কার, অন্তর্বর্তী সরকার এবং এই নির্বাচনের বৈধতা। সংবিধান অনুযায়ী তো এই সময়ে নির্বাচন হওয়ার কথা ছিল না।
Translation: We believe that the popular uprising reforms, the interim government, and the legitimacy of this election. According to the constitution, elections were not supposed to be held at this time.
He further said,
সংবিধান অনুযায়ী অনেক কিছুই হয়নি, পরবর্তী এই সংসদে এসে রাজনৈতিক সমঝোতার মাধ্যমে আগানোর কথা ছিল। সেই সমঝোতা যদি সরকার দল নষ্ট করার চেষ্টা করে, জনগণ তার বিরুদ্ধে দাঁড়াবে। আমরাও দাঁড়াবো।
Translation: According to the constitution, not much has happened, and the next parliament was supposed to move forward through a political compromise. If the government tries to destroy that compromise, the people will stand against it. We will stand too.
