Coronavirus cases in India

Coronavirus cases in India continue to rise, with 358 new infections reported in the past 24 hours, bringing the total active cases to 6,491. While the numbers are concerning, health authorities remain vigilant and prepared to manage the situation effectively.

Yesterday, Gujarat recorded the highest number of new cases at 158, followed by Karnataka with 57, West Bengal 54, Delhi 42, and Tamil Nadu 25 new infections. Kerala currently has the highest active caseload with 1,957 patients still battling the virus, followed by Gujarat (980), West Bengal (747), Delhi (728), Maharashtra (607), and Karnataka (423).

In response to the rising infections, hospitals across India are ramping up their readiness ensuring adequate oxygen supplies, isolation beds, ventilators, and essential medicines are available. Medical teams are also conducting drills to handle any potential surge. Fortunately, most patients so far have shown mild symptoms and are recovering safely at home.

The government’s proactive approach and coordination between states provide hope that India can navigate this wave with resilience. While yesterday’s report included six COVID-related deaths, today’s update thankfully reported no new fatalities.

To protect yourself and others, continue following safety measures like wearing masks, practicing social distancing, maintaining hand hygiene, and seeking medical advice promptly if symptoms appear. Together, with caution and care, India can overcome this challenge.
