COVID-19 Patients Die in Chattogram

Two COVID-19 patients, including a woman, died in Chattogram within 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to six in June. Four new cases have also been confirmed.

Within a span of 24 hours, two more COVID-19 patients, including one elderly woman, have died in Chattogram. Since the resurgence of the virus this month, the total number of COVID-19-related deaths in the district has risen to six.

According to a report from the Chattogram District Civil Surgeon’s Office on Monday, 120 samples were tested in various city labs over the last 24 hours, with four people testing positive for the virus. Among them, three are residents of Chattogram city.

The deceased, Kazi Abdul Awal (80) and Rabeya Khatun (95), passed away on Saturday afternoon while undergoing treatment at Apollo Imperial Hospital in the city. Both had been suffering from age-related complications.

Abdul Awal was originally from Noakhali District but had been living in Chattogram, while Rabeya Khatun was a resident of the Firingibazar area of the city.

Dr. Jahangir Alam, Civil Surgeon of Chattogram District, confirmed that since June 4, a total of 78 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the district, with six deaths recorded. Among the infected, 69 are from Chattogram city, while three of the deceased were city residents and the other three were from different upazilas.
