A contract between Dhaka Bank PLC and Dhaka Mass Transit Company Ltd (DMTCL) calls for the installation of currency recycling machines (CRMs) at each of the 16 stations along the Dhaka Metro Rail, also referred to as MRT Line-6. According to a press statement from the bank, this would improve banking accessibility and passenger convenience.

On February 12, a signing ceremony was held at DMTCL’s headquarters in Diabari Depot in Dhaka to formally formalize the agreement. In front of top representatives from both organizations, the agreement was signed by Khondaker Ehteshamul Kabir, company secretary of DMTCL, and HM Mostafizur Rahaman, SEVP and head of Retail Business Division, Dhaka Bank PLC. By facilitating easy cash deposits and withdrawals, the CRMs will support financial inclusion for commuters. According to Dhaka Bank, this partnership would help the country’s digital financial revolution and modernize the infrastructure of public transportation.
