Following the tragic crash of a Bangladesh Air Force fighter jet at Milestone School and College, which resulted in over a hundred casualties.

Cultural Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki has expressed grave concern over the spread of misinformation. “Please don’t further traumatize people by sharing articles with fake headlines,” he urged.

The crash occurred on Monday within the school campus in Dhaka’s Diabari area, leaving many children dead or injured. At this moment of national mourning, Farooki accused some members of the cultural community of behaving irresponsibly.

Farooki stated, “Several well-known actors, actresses, and directors have shared misleading information on their profiles over the past three hours, with headlines such as ‘Those missing after the Milestone crash.’ One of those posts had been shared over 1,300 times before being deleted.”

He questioned whether the spread of this misinformation was accidental or intentional. “These fake reports claim that around 46 students from Milestone are still missing. Is it really possible they shared such unbelievable information by mistake? Or was it a coordinated move?” Farooki asked.

“This kind of irresponsible posting on such a traumatic issue is truly heartbreaking,” he added. “The nation expects a higher level of responsibility from its artists.”

Farooki further stated that detailed records exist of which students were present in class during the incident, who was injured, and who tragically lost their lives. Therefore, he urged everyone not to amplify the emotional toll of this tragedy by sharing unverified and misleading information.

Calling for empathy and responsible conduct during such crises, Farooki concluded, “Please be more compassionate. Don’t spread misinformation stand beside the people who are suffering.”
