Stock Market Index Hits Lowest Point Since 2020

The main index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), known as the DSEX, dropped below 4,700 points today, 27 May 2025, for the first time in nearly five years.

The index went down by 41 points, ending the day at 4,678 points. This marks the fifth day in a row that the index has dropped.

Lowest Level Since August 2020

Continuous Decline Over the Past Week

In the last five trading sessions, the DSEX index has fallen a total of 123 points. This steady drop reflects investor concerns and lack of confidence in the market.

Very Low Turnover as Investors Stay Away

The total value of shares traded today stayed below Tk300 crore, showing that investor activity is very low. This low turnover has become a regular trend in recent days.

According to market analysts, this is taking place as a result of investors’ decision to observe and wait rather than make an investment at this time due to market uncertainty.
