Education and Primary Education Minister A. N. M. Ehsanul Haque Milon said that the resignation issue of Niaz Ahmed Khan from the post of Vice-Chancellor of University of Dhaka is not yet finalized.
He made the statement on Saturday (14 March) while speaking to journalists at an iftar gathering at his residence on Minto Road in Dhaka.
When asked whether the unresolved issue of the VC has created an administrative deadlock at the university, the minister explained that the matter is still under consideration.
He said:
Translation: “There is a gap here. I have received his resignation letter, but I have not accepted it. I have only received the application. He has not yet been informed that it has been finally accepted. Until I make a final decision myself, the matter will remain open.”
Minister Praises the VC
The education minister also spoke positively about the current VC.
He said:
Translation: “He is a gentleman and a qualified person. I believe there are opportunities to utilize him in different roles.”
During the discussion, the minister also mentioned the possibility of involving him in various councils, including the Accreditation Council.
