Disgusting Act of Intimidation: Bogura Activist Receives Rape Threat

A woman who actively participated in the July-August mass uprising has reported receiving a rape threat through an anonymous note left at her residence in Shajahanpur on December 25.

The victim, who wishes to remain anonymous, shared the content of the note in a public group of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. The note read:
“Are you ready, Madam? Where was your fear during the movement? Won’t you come alone ever? For how long will you move with companions? We will be your companions next. Get ready to receive new companions every night. Walk through the town alone if you can. Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu.”

Officer-in-Charge Wadud Alam of Shajahanpur Police Station confirmed the incident and promised action after a thorough investigation.

This is not the first threat faced by participants of the anti-discrimination movement in Bogura. Recently, death threats were issued to assistant coordinator Habib Sayem, with intimidating messages written on the walls of his house.

Sakib Khan, an organizer of the movement, voiced serious concerns about the participants’ safety, warning that further inaction could lead to grave consequences.

Prominent organizer Niyoti Sarkar Nitu called on the authorities to act swiftly. “The administration cannot remain silent. The perpetrators must be identified and brought to justice. Security for all movement participants must be prioritized,” she urged.

While two female coordinators of the movement have not been directly targeted, sources believe other participants are being singled out. The incident highlights the growing risks faced by activists advocating for social justice in Bogura.
