A fresh controversy has emerged between Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud and former Bangladesh cricket captain Tamim Iqbal over the issue of 15 clubs. Both sides have made conflicting statements regarding their conversation during the time when organizers were divided into two groups.
Asif Mahmud’s Claim
In a recent interview, Asif Mahmud said that Tamim had suggested excluding the 15 clubs from the process. He said,
Translation: “When the organizers were dividing into two groups, Tamim bhai told me – brother, can’t we exclude the 15 clubs?”

Tamim Iqbal’s Response
In response, Tamim Iqbal strongly denied the claim and stated that he had actually asked to keep the 15 clubs, not to exclude them. Tamim said,
Translation: “I have proof that I requested him to let the 15 clubs survive. Nothing can be a bigger lie than this.”
