Doctors Say Many Burn Victims May Not Survive
Dr. Mohammad Anwarul Islam, a senior doctor treating the victims of the recent plane crash in Dhaka, has given a heartbreaking update. He said,
“If someone has 50% to 70% burns, it is very difficult to save them.”
Victims with Over 30% Burns Referred to Major Hospitals
Many of the injured people had serious burns. Dr. Islam said,
“Those with more than 30% burns were given emergency treatment and then sent to hospitals like Dhaka Medical College and CMH (Combined Military Hospital).”
These hospitals are better equipped to handle such serious burn cases.

Students Faced Mental Trauma After Rescue Work
Several students who saw the accident or helped in the rescue were also deeply affected.
“Some students went through massive mental trauma. We gave them psychological treatment, and now they are doing better,” said Dr. Islam.
Children with 80–90% Burns Are in Very Bad Condition
Among the most serious cases were young children with burns on 80% to 90% of their bodies. Dr. Islam sadly shared,
“The children who first came in with 80% or 90% burns… they are not doing well.”
Doctors are trying their best, but their chances of survival are very low.
