Trump’s Reaction After Nobel Peace Prize Announcement
After the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado, U.S. President Donald Trump shared his reaction, claiming that the award was accepted in his honor.
Speaking to reporters at the White House on Friday, Donald Trump said:
“The person who received the Nobel Prize called me today and said, ‘I accepted it in your honor because you truly deserved it’… I didn’t say, give it to me. But I think she might have given it — she’s very nice. I’ve always helped her.”
“I Saved Millions of Lives”
Trump added that he helped Venezuela during its difficult times and took pride in saving lives.
“During the crisis in Venezuela, they needed a lot of help. I’m happy because I saved millions of lives…”

Earlier, after the Nobel announcement, a White House statement claimed that the Nobel Committee chose politics over peace.
White House Criticizes Nobel Committee
In a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), White House spokesperson Steven Cheung said:
“President Trump will continue to make peace deals, end wars, and save lives. He has the heart of a humanitarian, and there will never be anyone like him — a man who can move mountains with his willpower.”
He also added,
“The Nobel Committee has proven that it values politics over peace.”

“I Stopped Eight Wars”
Trump, who has long campaigned for the Nobel Peace Prize, recently announced a ceasefire and prisoner exchange deal to help end the Gaza war.
He claimed,
“I stopped eight wars.”
Trump argued that since becoming president, he has ended eight wars and therefore deserves the Nobel Peace Prize. However, he had earlier predicted he wouldn’t receive it again.
During a meeting with top U.S. military officials last month, he said,
“Will I get the Nobel Prize? Absolutely not. They’ll give it to someone who did nothing.”
He further added,
“If I don’t get this award, it will be a great insult to the United States.”
Why Machado Won the Nobel Prize
According to the Norwegian Nobel Committee, the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to María Corina Machado in recognition of her efforts to defend the democratic rights of the Venezuelan people and to lead a peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy.
