Dr. Muhammad Yunus Reflects on Bangladesh’s Struggles and Future at Independence Award Ceremony

Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus the chief adviser to the interim administration claimed that a fascist regime had long been in place in the nation by denying citizens the ability to vote through murder, enforced disappearances, and corruption. Additionally, he stated that the people and students’ rebellion has created a chance to create a new Bangladesh, and they do not wish to miss it.

On Tuesday (March 25), at the Independence Award ceremony held at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital, Dr. Muhammad Yunus made these remarks. Referring to the fact that a fascist government had been established in the country for a long time by depriving people of their voting rights through corruption, enforced disappearances, and killings, Dr. Yunus said, “An opportunity has emerged to build a new Bangladesh through the uprising of students and the masses, and we do not want to lose this opportunity.”

He further stated that since Badruddin Umar has declined to accept the Independence Award. His medal will be preserved at the National Museum. Additionally, he mentioned that from now on, efforts will be made to ensure that such awards are given to individuals while they are still alive, rather than posthumously.
