Dr. Muhammad Yunus Among Top Muslim Influencers

Bangladesh’s Interim Chief Adviser, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, has been ranked 50th in the list of the worlds 500 most influential Muslims for 2026. The list, titled “The Muslim 500: 500 Most Influential Muslims 2026,” was published by The Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre, a Jordan-based research organization.

According to the publication, Dr. Yunus has been recognized for his significant influence as Bangladesh’s Interim Prime Minister and his long-standing global impact through his work in social business and development.

Top Positions in the Global List

The 2026 list is led by Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, followed by Pakistan’s renowned Islamic scholar Sheikh Muhammad Taqi Usmani in second place, and Yemeni Sufi scholar Sheikh Habib Umar bin Hafiz in third.

Other prominent leaders in the top ten include:

  • Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei
  • Jordan’s King Abdullah II ibn Al-Hussein
  • Al-Azhar University’s Grand Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Muhammad Al-Tayyeb
  • Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan
  • Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud
  • UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan
  • Malaysia’s Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim

About The Muslim 500

Since 2009, the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre has been publishing The Muslim 500 each year to recognize the most influential Muslim personalities worldwide. The ranking covers key fields such as politics, religion, social work, economics, media, and culture.

Islam remains one of the most influential religions globally, with over 2 billion followers, representing about one-fourth of the world’s population. The report notes that Muslims are spread across 56 Muslim-majority countries, with around 20% living in Asia.
