BNP’s membership recruitment and renewal program held in Bhabanipur, Gazipur, the party’s Senior Joint Secretary General, Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, delivered a powerful speech on contemporary political issues.He spoke as the chief guest at the event organized at Muktijoddha College grounds on Saturday (June 14) afternoon.
Political heat over Dr.Yunus and Tareq Rahman London meeting
In his speech, Rizvi Ahmed said regarding the meeting between BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and Nobel laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus in London,
“লন্ডনে প্রধান উপদেষ্টা ড. মুহাম্মদ ইউনূস এবং বিএনপির ভারপ্রাপ্ত চেয়ারম্যান তারেক রহমানের এই বৈঠক কেন জানি মনে হয়েছে অনেকের মনে জ্বালা ধরিয়েছে। অনেকেই এটা মেনে নিতে পারছেন না। কেন এই জ্বালা ভাই আপনাদের? আপনাদের উদ্দেশ্য কী?”
Translation: “I don’t know why this meeting between Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus and BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman in London has caused irritation in the hearts of many. Many people are unable to accept it. Why is this irritation on your part? What is your purpose?”
He said,
“আমাদের দেশের বিরুদ্ধে সব সময়ই ষড়যন্ত্র-চক্রান্ত চলছে। আমরা কেউই এই চক্রান্তের বাইরে নই। ছাত্র-জনতার আন্দোলন এবং বিএনপির ১৫-১৬ বছরের এক রক্তক্ষয়ী আন্দোলনের মধ্য দিয়ে অন্তর্বর্তীকালীন সরকার ও অত্যন্ত সম্মানিত ব্যক্তি ড. ইউনূস সাহেব অন্তর্বর্তীকালীন সরকারের প্রধান হয়েছেন। ”
Translation: “There are always conspiracies and plots going on against our country. None of us are outside this conspiracy. Through the student-public movement and a bloody movement of 15-16 years by the BNP, an interim government and a highly respected person, Dr. Yunus Saheb, became the head of the interim government.”

Questions about the election schedule
Rizvi also raised questions about the upcoming national parliamentary elections. He said,
“রজমান মাসে কি নির্বাচনী প্রচারণা করা যায়? তবে ফেব্রুয়ারি এবং মার্চের পর গোটাটাই রমজান থাকবে আর থাকবে ঈদের আয়োজন। আপনি এপ্রিলের ১ তারিখ থেকে ১৫ তারিখের মধ্যে কোথায় প্রচারণা চালাবেন? কখন আইনি প্রক্রিয়া হবে। কখন নমিনেশন পেপার জমা দেবেন? কখন প্রচার চালাবেন? কীভাবে প্রচার চালাবেন? সারাদিন রোজা রেখে কী করে এপ্রিল মাসের মধ্যে নির্বাচন হওয়া সম্ভব? আমাদের এমন একটি সময়, যে সময়ের মধ্যে অন্য কোনো ধর্মীয় কোনো অনুষ্ঠান, রোজা-ঈদ থাকবে না, সে সময়টাতেই উপযুক্ত সময় হওয়া উচিত। তাহলে যদি লন্ডনের বৈঠকে এটা হয় যে আমরা ফেব্রুয়ারির প্রথম সপ্তাহে বা প্রথম সপ্তাহের মধ্যে দ্বিতীয় সপ্তাহের মধ্যে নির্বাচনটা হবে, তো এর মধ্যে কোনো রমজান নেই, কোরবানির ঈদ নেই, বড় কোনো অনুষ্ঠান নেই, পহেলা বৈশাখ নেই। আবহাওয়া ভালো থাকে, শুকনো মৌসুম, হালকা শীত থাকে। এই সময়ই বরাবরই আন্দোলন সংগ্রাম হয়, এই সময়ই নির্বাচন হয়।”
Translation: ” Can election campaigning be done during the month of Ramadan? However, after February and March, there will be Ramadan and Eid celebrations. Where will you campaign between April 1 and 15?When will the legal process take place? When will the nomination papers be submitted? When will the campaign be conducted? How will the campaign be conducted? How is it possible to hold elections by April by fasting all day?We should have a time when there are no other religious ceremonies, fasting or Eid, that should be the right time.So if the London meeting decides that we will hold the election in the first week of February or the first week or the second week, then there will be no Ramadan, no Eid al-Adha, no big events, no Pahela Baishakh. The weather will be good, there will be a dry season, a mild winter.This is always the time for movements and struggles, this is the time for elections.”
Rizvi’s speech about Jamaat,Awami League and Khaleda Zia
In his speech, Rizvi questioned the neutrality of Jamaat and said
“আজকে আমাদের কিছু রাজনৈতিক বন্ধু উষ্মা প্রকাশ করেছেন, লন্ডনের বৈঠককে তারা বলেছেন নিরপেক্ষতা ক্ষুণ্ন হবে। ভাই আপনাদের ইতিহাসটা বলুন তো দেখি। আপনারা কখন নিরপেক্ষতার সঙ্গে কাজ করেছেন। পাকিস্তান আন্দোলনে আপনারা সমর্থন করেননি। আপনারা ৭১ সালে জনগণের বিরোধিতা করেছেন। আপনারা ৮৬ সালে শেখ হাসিনার সাথে নির্বাচন করেছেন। ৯৫ সালে বিএনপি সরকারের বিরুদ্ধে হাসিনার সাথে একসাথে আন্দোলন করেছেন। আপনারা এই বার ৫ আগস্টের পর বলেছেন আওয়ামী লীগকে মাফ করে দেব, ভারতের সাথে সম্পর্ক বৃদ্ধি করব। তাহলে আপনাদের রাজনীতিটা কিসের রাজনীতি? রাজনীত মানেই জনগণের কাছে ওয়াদা, জনগণের কাছে অঙ্গীকার, যেটি দেশনেত্রী বেগম খালেদা জিয়া, তারেক রহমান বারবার বলেছেন এই হাসিনা দুর্বৃত্ত, এই হাসিনা গণতন্ত্র ধ্বংস করেছে, গণতান্ত্রিক অধিকার ক্ষুণ্ন করেছে, মানুষের কথা বলতে গেলে তার ঠিকানা হয়েছে আয়নাঘরে, তার ঠিকানা হয়েছে পুলিশের অত্যাচার, র্যাবের অত্যাচার তার বিরুদ্ধে শত শত মামলা, তার স্থায়ী ঠিকানা হয়েছে কারাগারে। আপনি সেই আওয়ামী লীগকে মাফ করে দেবেন?”
Translation: “Today, some of our political friends have expressed their anger, saying that neutrality will be undermined in the London meeting. Brother, tell us your history. When have you worked with neutrality? You did not support the Pakistan movement. You opposed the people in 1971. You contested elections with Sheikh Hasina in 1986. You protested against the BNP government with Hasina in 1995. This time, after August 5, you said that you will forgive the Awami League and improve relations with India. So what kind of politics is your politics? Politics means making promises to the people, commitments to the people, which the national leader Begum Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman have repeatedly said that this Hasina is a rogue, this Hasina has destroyed democracy, undermined democratic rights, when it comes to talking about people, her address has become a mirror, her address has become police oppression, RAB oppression, hundreds of cases have been filed against her, her permanent address has become prison. Will you forgive that Awami League?”
Rizvi made strong allegations against the Sheikh Hasina government in his speech. He said,
“শেখ হাসিনা জুলাই আগস্টের রক্তাক্ত আন্দোলনের মধ্য দিয়ে এক শহীদ মুগ্ধ, আরেক দিকে আবু সাঈদ, চট্টগ্রামের ছাত্রদল নেতা মহসীন, আহনাফ, সৈকত একের পর এক শিশু-কিশোর-তরুণ- এদেরকে হত্যা করে গেছে। আপনাদের রাজনীতিটা ভুলে ভরা। এই ভুলে ভরা রাজনীতি আপনারা শুরু থেকেই করে এসেছেন। আর বিএনপির সময় ইতিবাচক রাজনীতি করেছে। আমরা আমাদের দেশের স্বাধীনতার প্রশ্নে, আমরা সার্বভৌমত্বের প্রশ্নে, আমাদের ভূ-খণ্ড রক্ষার ক্ষেত্রে দেশনেত্রী বেগম খালেদা জিয়া আজকে যদি আপস করতেন, তাহলে তাকে ৫-৬ বছর জেলে থাকতে হতো না। তার ওপর যে নিপীড়ন নির্যাতন- এতখানি হতো না যদি তিনি আপস করতেন। তিনি জনগণকে ছেড়ে কখনো যাননি, শেখ হাসিনা গেছেন।”
Translation: “Sheikh Hasina is fascinated by one martyr through the bloody movement of July-August, on the other hand, Abu Sayeed, Chattogram Chhatra Dal leader Mohsin, Ahnaf, Saikat have killed children, teenagers and young people one after another. Your politics is full of mistakes. You have been doing this politics full of mistakes from the beginning. And during the BNP, you did positive politics. If our national leader Begum Khaleda Zia had compromised on the issue of our country’s independence, on the issue of our sovereignty, on the issue of protecting our territory today, then she would not have had to spend 5-6 years in jail. The oppression and torture that was inflicted on her would not have happened so much if she had compromised. She never left the people, Sheikh Hasina has left.”
Regarding BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, Rizvi said,
“এত বড় বড় কথা বলেছেন, বেগম জিয়ার বিরুদ্ধে কত অপপ্রচার, বেগম জিয়ার বিরুদ্ধে কত কুৎসা রটিয়েছেন। কত কি কথা বলেছেন, কিন্তু বেগম জিয়া তো দেশ ছেড়ে যাননি। বলেছেন শেখ হাসিনা যা বলছে, যে অপবাদ দিচ্ছে সেটি মিথ্যা। বরণ করেছেন নির্যাতন, কারাগারের মধ্যে থেকেছেন। যে কারাগার ২০০ বছরের পুরোনো কারাগার। শুধু ধুলা ওড়ে, বালু ওড়ে। উনার চোখের অপারেশন। সেই ধুলাবালু উড়ে তার চোখকে আরও ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত করেছে। তারপরও শেখ হাসিনার অন্যায়ের কাছে তিনি মাথা নত করেননি।”
Translation: “So many big things, how much propaganda against Begum Zia, how much slander against Begum Zia. How many things he has said, but Begum Zia has not left the country. He said that what Sheikh Hasina is saying, the slander she is making is false. He has endured torture, he has been in prison. That prison is a 200-year-old prison. Only dust flies, sand flies. His eye surgery. That dust flies and damaged his eyes even more. Even then, he did not bow down to Sheikh Hasina’s injustice.
In this meeting chaired by Gazipur District BNP Convener and former MP AKM Fazlul Haque Milon and moderated by District BNP Joint Convener Riazul Hannan, Advocate Abdus Salam Azad (Joint Secretary General, BNP), Shamimur Rahman Shamim (Central Research Affairs Secretary), Humayun Kabir Khan (Co-Labor Affairs Secretary), Dr. Rafiqul Islam Bachchu (Co-Health Affairs Secretary), Vir Muktijoddha Hasan Uddin Sarkar (Former MP, Central Member), Billal Hossain Bepari (Member Secretary of Sripur Municipality BNP), Abu Taher Musli (Former President of Sadar Upazila BNP), Emdadul Haque Musli and local and central leaders.
