BNP Chairperson’s advisor and freedom fighter Advocate Md. Fazlur Rahman made strong remarks about the recent visit of Dr. Muhammad Yunus to London for a meeting with Tarique Rahman, the acting chairman of BNP. He shared his opinions during a political gathering in Kishoreganj-4 (Itna, Mithamain, Austagram) on Wednesday afternoon.
“Dr. Yunus Has Now Gone to Tarique Rahman After Losing All Paths”
Dr. Yunus came to see Tarique Rahman after previously avoiding the BNP, which was criticised by Fazlur Rahman. He said:
“ড. ইউনূস সব পথ হারিয়ে এখন লন্ডনে তারেক রহমানের কাছে গেছেন। ১৫ দিন আগেও ছয় দিন পর্যন্ত বিএনপি সময় চাওয়ার পরও ইউনূস সাহেব এক ঘণ্টা সময় দেন নাই; এখন উনি ১২ ঘণ্টা বিমান চালিয়ে গেছেন আমাদের নেতার সঙ্গে কথা বলার জন্য। সেই কথাটা হবে শুক্রবার। সাপ গর্তে যাওয়ার সময় সোজা হয়েই যায়।”
Translation:
“Dr. Yunus, after losing all paths, has now gone to London to meet Tarique Rahman. Just 15 days ago, even after BNP requested six days for an appointment, Mr. Yunus didn’t give even an hour. But now he has flown 12 hours to speak to our leader. That conversation will happen on Friday. As the saying goes — when a snake enters a hole, it straightens itself.”

“I Hope He Speaks Honestly on This Holy Day”
Fazlur Rahman mentioned that Friday is a special day and expressed hope for honest talks between Dr. Yunus and Tarique Rahman:
“আল্লাহর পবিত্র দিন সব দিন, কিন্তু শুক্রবারটা একটু বেশি। আমি আশা করব ইউনূস সাহেব সৎভাবে সত্যভাবে কথা বলবেন আমাদের নেতার সঙ্গে। আমি জানি আমাদের নেতার সেই অভিজ্ঞতা, আমাদের নেতা তারেক রহমানের সেই যোগ্যতা, দেশ চালানোর ব্যাপারে তার সব সক্ষমতা আছে।”
Translation:
“All days are holy to Allah, but Friday is a little more special. I hope Mr. Yunus will speak truthfully and sincerely with our leader. I know our leader has the experience, the capability, and all the qualifications to run the country.”
“Save the Country Through Talks”
Additionally, he spoke personally to Dr. Yunus and underlined how crucial this meeting is for the nation:
“আপনি ইউনূস সাহেব আমার মুরুব্বি। আমার চেয়ে ৯ বছরের বড় আপনি। আপনি নোবেল পুরস্কারপ্রাপ্ত। আমি আশা করব, তারেক রহমানের সঙ্গে আলোচনার মধ্য দিয়ে এই দেশকে আপনারা রক্ষা করবেন।”
Translation:
“Mr. Yunus, you are my elder. You are 9 years older than me. You are a Nobel Prize winner. I hope that through your discussion with Tarique Rahman, you will help save this country.”
“We Don’t Want Destructive Movements Anymore”
Fazlur Rahman said that BNP no longer wants violent protests or chaos. Now, people simply want their right to vote:
“আর আন্দোলন করতে চাই না। চলবে-চলবে, জ্বলবে-জ্বলবে, আগুন-আগুন- এগুলো আর করতে চাই না ইউনূস সাহেব। এখন শুধু বাংলাদেশের মানুষ একটা ভোট দিতে চায়।”
Translation:
“We don’t want to do movements anymore. No more slogans like ‘it will burn, it will go on’. We don’t want violence anymore, Mr. Yunus. Now, people of Bangladesh only want to cast their vote.”
