Duck Meat Becomes Bigger Issue Than 250 billion Loot: Barrister Fuad

Barrister Fuad

Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuad, General Secretary of the AB Party, has criticized the media and political system, saying that corruption involving billions of dollars is ignored while minor issues are repeatedly discussed. He also strongly opposed taking oaths under “Chuppu’s authority” and demanded elections and oaths under the “July Charter” born from the people’s uprising.

Media Focus on Wrong Issues

Barrister Fuad said that the country’s biggest problems are being ignored while unnecessary topics dominate the national agenda.

He stated,

“In this country, there are no talk shows about the 250 billion dollars of looting, but for weeks they discuss who ate duck meat, setting the agenda and making narratives. A thief of 5 lakh taka is being turned into the country’s biggest oligarch.”

Election Under July Charter

Talking about elections, Fuad made it clear that elections must follow the July Charter, which came through the people’s uprising.

He said,

“Those who want elections must want elections under the July Charter, under the people’s uprising. Otherwise, no one has the authority to ask for elections in February.”

Rejecting Oath Under Chuppu’s Authority

Fuad strongly opposed taking any oath under the current authority, referring to it as dishonourable.

He remarked,

“I don’t want to go to Chuppu anymore to take an oath. This is not honorable. This will be betrayal with the people’s uprising if we still have to take oath under Chuppu’s authority.”

Call for New Oath for MPs

Fuad suggested that members of the new parliament should take an oath based on the July Charter, not under the old constitutional arrangement.

He explained,

“Here we have commission members. You should also propose an oath for the next parliament, so that MPs will not only be elected under the July Charter but also take their oath under it.”

Sacrifices Should Not Be Wasted

Barrister Fuad reminded that many people sacrificed their lives for change, and their sacrifices should not be ignored.

He stressed,

“Because 2,400 people did not give their lives for us to take oath under Chuppu’s authority.”
