During Shab-e-Barat, one of the holiest nights in the Islamic calendar, which is observed on Friday night, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police has prohibited the carrying and use of various firecrackers and other explosives throughout the city. In a press release on Thursday, DMP Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali stated that the 12-hour ban would take effect at 6 p.m. on Friday and last until 6 a.m. on Saturday. In in accordance with Section 28 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance, 1976, the limitations were put in place. On Friday, Shab-e-Barat will be honored nationwide. It is commemorated on the fifteenth night of Sha’ban, a significant Arabic month leading up to Ramadan. Muslims observe the night by participating in various religious rites, reciting the Holy Quran, and offering additional prayers.
