Dwayne Bravo, the all-time leading T20 wicket-taker, has officially retired from all cricket at the age of 40 after his final CPL season was cut short by injury. Bravo, who retired from international cricket in 2021 and stepped away from the IPL last year, has transitioned into coaching roles with Chennai Super Kings and Afghanistan.
In an Instagram post, Bravo said, “My mind wants to keep going, but my body can no longer endure the pain and strain.” He concluded with a heartfelt farewell: “The Champion bids farewell.”
Bravo’s illustrious 18-year career saw him claim 631 T20 wickets across 582 appearances, winning titles in the IPL, PSL, and Big Bash, and becoming a two-time T20 World Cup champion with West Indies. He announced before this year’s CPL that it would be his last, ending his career after a groin injury while playing for Trinbago Knight Riders.
Bravo has also mentored young talents like Dominic Drakes and Ali Khan, leaving a lasting impact both on and off the field.
