New Mildly bold Earthquake Dhaka Again, Epicenter in Badda

Another earthquake has struck the capital Dhaka and several other parts of the country. The tremor was felt at 6:06 pm on Saturday (22 November).

The official earthquake bulletin from the Bangladesh Meteorological Department confirms that the epicenter was in Dhaka’s Badda region, located 6 km east of the BMD Seismic Centre in Agargaon. The magnitude was recorded at 4.3 on the Richter scale, and the category was classified as Light.

Rubayet Kabir of the Earthquake Research Center reported that the morning quake’s epicenter was in Palash, Narsingdi, consistent with being an aftershock. He explained that aftershocks may occur up to 10–20 kilometers from the original epicenter.

He stated that the epicenter of the Baipail tremor was in Palash, Narsingdi. It was an aftershock of Friday’s quake centered in Madhabdi. Rubayet Kabir added that aftershocks can occur within a 10–20 km radius, meaning this one also struck close to the previous epicenter.

Warning of a possible major quake ahead, Rubayet said,

“Dhaka hasn’t seen a quake like Friday’s in the last 100 years. We are in serious danger.”

On Friday morning (21 November) at 10:38:26 am, a 5.7 magnitude earthquake was felt across Dhaka and other parts of the country. The epicenter was in Madhabdi, Narsingdi.
So far, 10 deaths have been reported, and hundreds have been injured.
