Education Minister Dr. A.N.M. Ehsanul Haque Milon has announced a zero tolerance policy to prevent cheating and irregularities in the upcoming SSC and equivalent examinations. As part of this, he announced plans to visit examination centers in districts by helicopter using the old tactic.

He said these things during a discussion with journalists at the Education Minister’s official residence on Minto Road in the capital on Saturday night.

Discussion with journalists

The discussion was organized by the Education Reporters Association, Bangladesh (ERAB), an organization of journalists from the Education BIT.

At the time, the Education Minister said,

Translation: I have to prevent counterfeiting. There is no alternative. I have to go by helicopter in the old style. I will install CCTV cameras in every center. I will have to rush from district to district with a bunch of officials and media.

Preparations for organizing cheating-free exams

Ehsanul Haque Milon said,

Translation: I stopped cheating when I was the State Minister. I don’t want that cheating to come back. Preparations are being made to conduct the SSC examination in a fair, beautiful and cheating-free manner. A zero tolerance policy has been adopted to conduct the examination in a fair manner.

He again said,

Translation: Cheating is more common in madrasas and technical educational institutions. I will pay more attention to this aspect. I will ensure transparency in appointing room inspectors and determining centers to break the cheating syndicate.

Past Experience

It is worth noting that ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon served as the State Minister for Education during the BNP-Jamaat alliance government in 2001. At that time, he went to various examination centers in a helicopter and launched a campaign to catch cheating, which became widely discussed.

Even now, he has announced to take strict steps to organize cheating-free examinations using that experience.
