Eid-ul-Azha 2025: Nationwide Preparations and Timetable for Grand Eid Prayer in Bangladesh

For devout Muslims in Bangladesh, Eid-ul-Azha is not merely a religious festival it is a celebration of sacrifice and unity, deeply rooted in tradition. One of the most important aspects of this festival is the congregational Eid prayer, or Eid Jamaat. Every year, millions of worshippers across the country gather in Eidgahs, open fields, and mosques to offer the special prayer.

 Eid-ul-Azha 2025 is scheduled to be observed on Saturday, June 7, 2025. The time schedules for the main Eid congregations across various cities and divisions in the country have already been announced.

Sholakia: The Heritage of Tradition

The historic Sholakia Eidgah ground in Kishoreganj, known for hosting the largest Eid congregation in Bangladesh, is all set once again to welcome a massive number of worshippers. The main Eid prayer will take place at 9:00 AM, led by Maulana Abul Khayer Md. Saifullah, the Khatib of Boro Bazar Mosque in the district town. To facilitate travel, the railway authority has arranged two special trains named “Sholakia Special.”

Gor-e-Shaheed in Dinajpur: A Rival to Sholakia

In recent years, the Gor-e-Shaheed Boro Maidan in Dinajpur has become a major venue, competing with Sholakia in hosting large Eid congregations. Covering 22 acres, it can reportedly accommodate 500,000 to 600,000 worshippers at once. This year, the Eid prayer will be held at 8:30 AM, led by Maulana Md. Mahfuzur Rahman.

Eid Congregation Timings in Other Major Divisional Cities
  • Chattogram

The main Eid Jamaat in Chattogram will be held at the Jamiatul Falah National Mosque premises at 7:30 AM, led by Syed Alauddin Abu Taleb Mohammad Alauddin Al Qaderi. A second congregation will follow at 8:30 AM, led by Maulana Mohammad Ahmadul Haque.

In addition, the Chattogram City Corporation and district administration have organized Eid prayers at various Eidgahs and mosques, including Lal Dighi, Sugandha, Chawkbazar, Sagarika, and Maa Ayesha Siddiqua Mosque. A congregation will also be held at the MA Aziz Stadium gymnasium ground at 8:00 AM.

  • Rajshahi

Rajshahi’s main Eid Jamaat will take place at Hazrat Shah Makhdum (R) Central Eidgah Maidan at 7:30 AM. If the weather is unfavorable, the congregation will be moved to the Shah Makhdum Dargah Jame Mosque at 8:00 AM. Additionally, local congregations will be held at all Eidgahs and mosques in the city.

  •  Khulna

The main Eid Jamaat in Khulna will be held at Circuit House Ground at 7:30 AM. In case of rain, it will take place at the Khulna Town Jame Mosque at the same time. Two more congregations will be held there at 8:30 AM and 10:00 AM.

Other congregations include the Model Mosque near Khulna Alia Madrasa and Khulna University, both at 7:00 AM. The city corporation has arranged separate Eid prayers in every ward. More than 700 Eidgahs and mosques across Khulna district will host Eid congregations.

  • Barishal

The main Eid prayer in Barishal will take place at the Hemayet Uddin Central Eidgah Ground at 7:30 AM. At the same time, a congregation will also be held at the Barishal District Model Mosque.

At the historic Islamic institution, Charmonai Darbar Sharif, the Eid prayer will be held at 9:00 AM, led by Charmonai Pir Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim. Another key venue, Guthia Baitul Aman Jame Mosque, will host its prayer at 8:00 AM.

  • Sylhet

Sylhet’s Shahi Eidgah Ground will host the main Eid Jamaat at 8:00 AM, led by Maulana Mufti Junayed Ahmed. At Qudrat Ullah Jame Mosque in Bandar Bazar, three congregations will be held at 7:00 AM, 8:00 AM, and 9:00 AM.

Another congregation will be held at the Government Alia Madrasa Ground at 7:30 AM, arranged by Anjumane Khedmate Quran, led by Maulana Abdus Salam Al Madani.

  • Rangpur

Rangpur’s main Eid Jamaat will be held at the Collectorate Eidgah Ground at 8:00 AM, led by Maulana Md. Bayezid Hossain. If the weather is bad, two backup congregations will be held at the District Model Mosque and Islamic Cultural Center at 8:30 AM and 9:00 AM respectively.

Preparations have been made for 5,090 Eidgahs adjacent to mosques throughout the district.

  • Mymensingh

In Mymensingh, the Anjuman Eidgah Ground will host the first Jamaat at 7:30 AM, followed by a second at 8:30 AM. The Boro Mosque will host a congregation at 8:00 AM, and the Madani Noor Markaz Mosque Ground will hold two at 7:00 AM and 8:30 AM.

Advisories and Requests

To ensure a smooth and safe experience during the sacred Eid-ul-Azha congregations, local authorities and organizers have urged worshippers to:

  • Arrive on time

  • Carry umbrellas, prayer mats, and necessary medicines

  • Take extra care of children and the elderly

Alternate arrangements for indoor prayers have been made in every city in case of unfavorable weather conditions.
