A shocking incident took place in the Chargaon village of Bishwambarpur upazila, Sunamganj, where a man was killed by his own elder brother inside a mosque during prayer. The incident happened on Wednesday night, and police confirmed the news on Thursday.
Victim Attacked While Offering Esha Prayer
The deceased, 60-year-old Mojibur Rahman, was reportedly attacked by his elder brother, Lutfur Rahman, while performing the Esha prayer inside the local mosque. The two brothers had been involved in a long-running dispute over family land.
Attack With a Bamboo Stick
According to police, Lutfur struck Mojibur repeatedly with a thick piece of bamboo during the prayer. Locals rushed to rescue the injured man and initially took him to Bishwambarpur Health Complex.

Victim Died at Hospital in Sylhet
Due to the seriousness of his injuries, Mojibur was transferred the same night to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital. Despite efforts by doctors, he passed away while under treatment.
Suspect Arrested by Police
Police launched a special operation and arrested the accused, Lutfur Rahman, from the same village. Both the victim and the attacker are sons of Kamru Munshi, a resident of Chargaon village.
Police Statement
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mokhlesur Rahman of Bishwambarpur Police Station confirmed the incident. He said:
“The younger brother was killed inside a mosque while offering prayer, due to a long-standing land dispute. The elder brother used a bamboo stick to attack him. The accused has been arrested, and legal actions are being taken.”
