Dr. Muhammad Yunus: Mega Projects Turned into Mega Lootin- We’re Trying to Change That

The Chief Adviser of the interim government, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, has officially announced that the next national election will be held in the first half of April 2026. He made the announcement during a speech to the nation on the occasion of Eid ul-Adha.

Dr. Yunus began his address by extending Eid greetings to the people of Bangladesh and conveying good wishes for the Hajj pilgrims and those performing Qurbani. He also provided an overview of the preparations and overall situation surrounding this year’s Hajj and Eid celebrations.

In his speech, he highlighted the critical role of Chattogram Port, calling it the “heartbeat of our economy.” He acknowledged that the port is currently in a fragile state and in need of urgent reform. To address this, he stated that the interim government has brought in experienced foreign professionals to assist with modernization and restructuring efforts.

Dr. Yunus also addressed the spread of misinformation and propaganda concerning the port. He urged the public to remain vigilant and not be misled by false narratives, emphasizing the importance of unity and factual awareness.

Concluding his speech, the Chief Adviser called on citizens to observe Eid peacefully and prepare for the upcoming election with democratic spirit and national responsibility. It is worth noting that Eid ul-Adha will be celebrated across Bangladesh tomorrow, Saturday, June 7.
