Chief Adviser of the interim government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, has stated that power will be handed over to the elected government. He said the people of Bangladesh are ready to vote, and after 17 long years, the most beautiful election in the country’s history will be held.
He made this statement on Wednesday (June 11), local time in the afternoon, while participating in a dialogue at Chatham House in London.
Dr. Muhammad Yunus affirmed that the government is committed to holding the election on the announced schedule, saying April is the right time for the polls. A free, fair, and neutral election with participation from all political parties will be held.
The Chief Adviser also said that next month, in the presence of all political parties, the July Charter will be presented. The government is committed to building a new Bangladesh of the youth’s dreams.

He also added that the interim government is sincerely working to ensure women’s rights. Earlier, the Chief Adviser, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, met with the United Kingdom’s National Security Adviser, Jonathan Powell.
During the meeting, they focused on bilateral cooperation and regional stability. The discussion also covered topics such as the recovery of Bangladesh’s stolen assets, the Rohingya refugee crisis, recent geopolitical developments, and the country’s democratic transition.
It is worth mentioning that on Monday evening (June 9), Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus departed Dhaka for a four-day official visit to the United Kingdom. He arrived at London’s Heathrow Airport at 7:05 a.m. local time on Tuesday, where he was welcomed by the Bangladesh High Commissioner in London. After completing all scheduled activities, Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus is set to return to Bangladesh on June 14.
