Sports journalist and analyst Riasad Azim has come under heavy criticism from netizens after making disparaging remarks about Noakhali’s participation in the prestigious Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
In a viral video, many people have described his comments about Noakhali as mocking and offensive, sparking outrage and widespread condemnation across social media platforms.
Following the viral circulation of the video, sports enthusiasts from the Noakhali district labeled his remarks as “controversial,” “disrespectful,” and “obscene.”

They argue that making such derogatory comments about Noakhali’s representation on a national-level platform like the BPL is inappropriate, insulting, and divisive.
As public anger continued to grow, Riasad Azim eventually came forward on social media and apologized with folded hands. In the apology video, he said, “I did not intend to hurt anyone’s feelings. If anyone was hurt, I sincerely apologize.”
While some netizens have appreciated his public apology, others believe it is not enough. They emphasize the need to avoid any form of ethnic, regional, or cultural slurs in the future.
