A shocking case of exam fraud has come to light in Dinajpur, where police detained a exam candidate named Krishnokanto Roy during the recruitment test for the position of Sub-Food Inspector under the Directorate General of Food. The incident took place at Kerry Memorial High School in the Kosba area of Dinajpur town.

According to police sources, two secret electronic devices were recovered from the candidate. One was a tiny circular earpiece inserted deep inside his ear using a special method, while the other was attached to his undershirt.

The incident occurred around 10:10 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025. Invigilators became suspicious when the candidate repeatedly started coughing during the exam.
Upon interrogation, it was revealed that he was instructed to cough if the question set named “Padma” appeared  a signal for a gang operating on the other end of the communication device.

However, misunderstanding the timing, Krishnokanto coughed multiple times and got caught. Police later confirmed that the arrested candidate is a resident of Singul Purbo Rajarampur village in Biral upazila. During questioning, he confessed that he had joined the exam with the devices supplied by a question paper leaking syndicate based in Dhaka.

Dinajpur’s Additional Superintendent of Police Anwar Hossain said that the exam center was already under special surveillance based on prior intelligence. When authorities noticed the candidate’s suspicious behavior in Room No. 101, they searched him and discovered the devices.

A fellow examinee, who wished to remain anonymous, claimed that at least 55 candidates across different exam centers in Dinajpur were using similar devices. Each had reportedly paid Tk 1.5 to 2 lakh to the cheating gang.

The source also revealed that the leaked question papers were sent through WhatsApp within one to five minutes after the exam began. The gang would then prepare the answers and relay them to candidates through the hidden earpieces, based on the question set code the candidates confirmed.

The anonymous examinee further alleged that some local school teachers and even administrative officials might be linked to the racket. The gang also promised candidates that if they passed the written test, they could secure viva results by paying an additional Tk 4 to 5 lakh.

Dinajpur’s Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education & ICT), S. M. Habibul Hasan, described the operation as part of a large and organized syndicate. He added that a coordinated operation with police is now underway to trace and dismantle the entire network.
Two Teachers Arrested:

Following the incident, police launched an immediate raid in Dinajpur’s Fakirpara area and detained two school teachers allegedly connected to the cheating syndicate.

They were identified as Md. Mamun (35), a teacher at Shankar Government Primary School in Chirirbandar upazila, and Sundar Roy alias Sobuj (38). From their possession, authorities seized 16 admit cards, 5 hidden devices, 10 contractual agreements on official stamp papers, and 6 mobile phones.

Police suspect this is part of a long-running question paper leaking network that has been operating for several years, exploiting job seekers and corrupting the recruitment process.
Authorities have confirmed that a full investigation is underway to identify everyone involved and ensure strict legal action against the perpetrators.
