Experts recommended to embrace renewable energy for better future

To assure a flourishing future for Bangladesh, Policymakers, researchers, and experts have agonized the need for the proximate adoption of renewable energy and the embodiment of endurable urban planning.

Today at Hotel Bengal Blueberry in Dhaka, they made the call at a policy dialogue on “Green Transitions for a Prosperous Bangladesh.”.

Through the International Growth Centre, which is organized by the Policy Exchange Bangladesh and supported, disposed of hazardous lead pollution to the mounting issue of plastic dissipation. The event brought together eminent analysts who shed light on crucial environmental challenges.

In this event, Moogdho Mahzab, associate research fellow at the International Food Policy Research Institute, notified of the health risks originating from lead seepage through the expanded regional recycling of lead-acid batteries.

Simultaneously, Atonu Rabbani, professor of economics at Dhaka University, emphasized the high cost of renewable energy technology as the primary obstacle to its assumption in Bangladesh’s booming garment sector. Rather, factory proprietors are reluctant to invest in solar and other green energy solutions despite their long-term benefits.

Encouraged incentive-based obtainment to embolden households to sort waste at the source, Munshi Sulaiman, research director of BRAC Institute of Governance and Development.

Highlighted the need for a proactive strategy to address environmental challenges while advancing the country’s energy aspirations, Jalal Ahmed, chairman of the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission.

At the event, other panel members, consisting of Towfiqul Islam Khan, research director of the Centre for Policy Dialogue; Ahsan Habib, project coordinator of the NGO Forum Bangladesh; and Md Kamruzzaman, special correspondent of News24, resounded the need for immediate policy reforms and green investments.

Accompanied by Bangladesh standing at a crossroads between economic growth and environmental renewability, experts punctuate that bold actions and policy shifts are indispensable now more than ever.
