Farmer Mohammad Sharif (45) later died while undergoing treatment at Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital. The incident occurred on Sunday (30 November) in Nayapara of PM Khali Union under Cox’s Bazar Sadar.
According to police and local sources, the arbitration began around 5 pm. During the discussion, tensions suddenly escalated, and one of the opposing men opened fire. Sharif was shot in the leg and was rushed to the hospital, but doctors were unable to save him.
Family members of the deceased said that last Tuesday, the goat of neighbor Sabekun Nahar entered Sharif’s paddy field and damaged the crop. To resolve the dispute, a mediation meeting was arranged five days later. As soon as the meeting began, arguments intensified, and local robber Abdul Karim who accompanied Sabekun Nahar—fired multiple shots at Sharif and fled.
