A heartbreaking incident has taken place in Ukhia Upazila of Cox’s Bazar, where an innocent four-year-old girl lost her life after being brutally tortured by her father. The tragic incident took place between 8:30 pm and 10 pm on Saturday (July 5) in Mankhali Konar Para of Jaliapalong Union of the upazila.
The deceased child’s name is Kanij Fatema Jyuti, father is Aman Ullah (40) – son of local deceased Nurul Alam. Police said that the man, who was in a state of family feud and drug addiction, first beat his wife severely. At one point, he hit the baby girl in the house first with a knife and then with a hammer on the head, causing the child to die on the spot.
Murder while Intoxicated, then Body Thrown into The River
According to eyewitnesses, on the day of the incident, Aman Ullah returned home in a state of intoxication and started beating his wife. The wife was injured and left the house. Taking this opportunity, he brutally beat and killed his only daughter Jyuti and threw her body into the nearby Mankhali River to cover up the murder. Later, he closed the door of his house and sat silently.

A local shopkeeper and neighbors created a huge sensation in the area after hearing the story of the incident from Aman Ullah’s wife. They immediately informed the Inani police outpost. Later, the police arrived and arrested Aman Ullah and the body of the deceased child was recovered from the river.
Mankhali police outpost in-charge Durjoy Barua said,
ঘটনার সন্ধ্যায় আমান উল্লাহ ও তার স্ত্রীর মধ্যে তীব্র বাকবিতণ্ডা হয়। এক পর্যায়ে স্ত্রী রাগ করে বাসা থেকে বেরিয়ে যান। পরে ঘরে থাকা একমাত্র মেয়ে জ্যুতিকে হাতুড়ি দিয়ে মাথায় আঘাত করে হত্যা করেন তিনি।
Translation: “On the evening of the incident, Aman Ullah and his wife had a heated argument. At one point, the wife left the house in anger. Later, he killed the only daughter, Jyuti, by hitting her head with a hammer.”
He further said,
‘অভিযুক্তকে হেফাজতে রেখে আইনগত প্রক্রিয়া সম্পন্ন করা হচ্ছে। নিহত শিশুর মরদেহ উদ্ধার করে ময়নাতদন্তের জন্য কক্সবাজার জেলা সদর হাসপাতালের মর্গে পাঠানো হয়েছে।’
Translation: “Legal proceedings are being completed with the accused in custody. The body of the deceased child has been recovered and sent to the morgue of Cox’s Bazar District Sadar Hospital for autopsy.”
