In a shocking incident in Jibannagar upazila of Chuadanga, a Father Kidnaps Own Son and demanded ransom. The victim, Siam (8), was rescued unharmed in a quick police operation on Tuesday night (17 March). Authorities also arrested the child’s father and his accomplice.

Child Taken to Secluded Area and Threatened

According to police, the incident took place around 5:30 pm on Tuesday. The child’s father, Md Azizul (28), along with his accomplice Md Akhtar (26), took the boy to a secluded garden. They tied him up and threatened him with a sharp machete. The kidnappers demanded Tk50,000 from the child’s mother and warned that they would kill the boy if the money was not paid.

Swift Police Operation Rescues Child

After receiving the complaint, police from Jibannagar Police Station and the Detective Branch (DB) launched a quick operation. Around 9:30 pm, the suspects were arrested in the Paka Daspara area, and the child was rescued safely. During the operation, police recovered:

  • Tk7,000 sent via bKash
  • The machete used in the crime

Motive Behind the Crime

Initial investigation revealed that the child’s mother is currently living in India. Taking advantage of this situation, the father and his accomplice kidnapped the boy to extort money. They also took photos of the child while threatening him, which were sent to the mother to pressure her into paying the ransom.

Police Statement and Legal Action

Md Ruhul Kabir Khan said:
“The child was rescued in a prompt and life-saving operation.”
He added:

“Police remain firm against such crimes and will continue regular operations to ensure public safety.”

A case has been filed against both suspects at Jibannagar Police Station.
