In a horrifying incident from Gurugram, India, 25-year-old tennis player Radhika Yadav was shot dead by her own father, Deepak Yadav, allegedly after becoming frustrated with neighbors’ taunts claiming he was “living off his daughter’s income.”
Despite Radhika’s rising success in doubles tennis and her coaching academy, local slander pushed her father into mental distress.
On Thursday morning, Deepak shot Radhika five times with his licensed revolver while her fever-stricken mother was in another room.

Police later arrested him and seized the weapon. Deepak confessed to the killing, citing humiliation caused by neighbors’ comments and anger over Radhika’s social media presence.
Radhika had ranked 75th in U-18 girls’ tennis in India, and 113th in ITF rankings globally. She had stepped back from competitive tennis two years ago due to injury. The brutal murder has shocked the public and sparked outrage across India.
