Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Adviser of the interim administration, declared that police verification would no longer be necessary for passport issuing. He characterized this verification procedure as harassing. The Chief Adviser said this on Sunday, February 16, at the DC Conference held at the capital’s Osmani Memorial Auditorium. “My citizen’s right is a passport,” Dr. Yunus stated. It is a way to identify as a country. We recently passed a law that says passport issue does not require police verification. These procedures are needless and irritate people. He said, “This role of harassment needs to be reversed.”
He emphasized that maintaining law and order is now crucial to the government’s success or failure and that keeping peace and stability in the current environment is crucial. He added that one of the government’s most important duties is to safeguard minorities, women, and children. The whole nation needs to work together, Dr. Yunus continued. “Nothing should be done that disrupts the overall success of the team,” he stated. He also urged district managers to follow their own instincts and not listen to outside pressure. He pointed out that they had every chance to do so in the interim.
