Fundraising Post Removed from Chief Adviser’s Page After Social Media Backlash

Fundraising Post

After the tragic crash of a Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft at Milestone School and College in Uttara, a post appeared on the verified Facebook page of the Chief Adviser asking for financial help for the victims. However, the post quickly faced criticism on social media and was deleted later on Tuesday (22 July).

Post Called for Donations to Official Relief Fund

The Facebook post, published shortly after 2 PM, asked for voluntary donations to help those affected by the incident. It included the account details of the Chief Adviser’s Relief and Welfare Fund. The account was listed under:

  • Account Name: Chief Adviser’s Relief and Welfare Fund

  • Account Number: 010733004093

  • Bank: Sonali Bank Ltd., Chief Adviser’s Office Corporate Branch

Shared Internally on WhatsApp Too

The post was also shared in the official WhatsApp group of the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing by Senior Assistant Press Secretary Fayez Ahmed.

Post Removed, But No Explanation Given

Despite the removal of the post from the Facebook page, no official reason was provided. Interestingly, the post still remains visible in the WhatsApp group.

Online Criticism Prompted Quick Removal

Soon after it was shared, many social media users began to criticize the move, questioning why an appeal for donations was being made from the highest office instead of using state resources. This wave of backlash appears to have prompted the removal.
