Gastric Medication Market Dominated by “Sergel,” Set to Hit 1,000 Crore BDT in Annual Sales

“Sergel,” a well-known gastric medication in this country, is on track to hit a sales record of 1,000 crore BDT annually. In the first nine months of this year, the drug’s sales totaled over 900 crore BDT, according to information from the technology company IMS Health. It is anticipated that sales will exceed 1,000 crores by the end of the year, placing it among the top-selling items in the nation.

Healthcare Pharmaceuticals Limited’s CEO, Md. Halimuzzaman, told “We are honored by the high sales of this product, although it has not yet reached the 1,000-crore BDT mark.”
“Sales growth has been slower this year than it was last year,” he continued. But there’s still room for improvement.

The same kind of medication is also the second and third best-selling. The gastroenterological generics “Maxpro” and “Pantonix” had respective sales of 486 crore and 376 crore BDT. Halimuzzaman claims that because gastric products are so well-liked by physicians and patients, they control the pharmaceutical industry, with Sergel continuing to hold the top spot year after year.

Five of the ten best-selling medications are for stomach problems. Sales of “Sergel” reached 918 crore BDT in the past nine months alone, accounting for 2.67% of the pharmaceutical market. The market shares of “Maxpro” and “Pantonix” are 1.41% and 1.10%, respectively.

According to Halimuzzaman, “the majority of adults in the nation use gastric medication because dietary discipline is not widely observed.” He said that a number of other medications have had significant sales in the last several years. For example, over the last nine months, Napa generated 338 crore BDT in sales, making it the fourth best-selling medicine.

Cef-3, Monas, Axiom, Seclo, and Bizoran all have yearly sales of more than 200 crore BDT. In the country, 31 generic medicines achieve annual sales of over 100 crore BDT. Data indicates that 79 generic drugs have sales exceeding 50 crore BDT.

Zubair Alam, company secretary of Renata PLC, told , “Most adults in the country consume gastric medicine due to irregular eating habits.”
As a result, many suffer from gastric issues, he explained.  He also noted the increasing demand for “Rosuvastatin”, a drug used to lower cholesterol. “This is because many die from heart attacks. Similar drugs are highly demanded in developed countries and could perform well here too.”

Zubair Alam further remarked, “With Maxpro, we are pleased to serve a vast number of patients suffering from ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and hyperacidity-related issues. All “Maxpro” formulations are manufactured in facilities approved by the US FDA, UK MHRA, and ANVISA, ensuring that patients receive the highest-quality Esomeprazole in the country.”
