In a groundbreaking achievement, “Pardon Us, Coming Through,” a team from Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), secured 2nd runner-up spot in the internationally praised Battle of Minds Global 2024 competition. The trio, Md Nahian Hasan, Adeeba Rukaiya Hasan, and Ridah Tarannum Mehmood, won national champions in the Bangladesh round, which was held on November 28 at the Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel in Dhaka. It also marked BUP’s first-ever national victory in the competition.
Battle of Minds, a competition by British American Tobacco (BAT) that invites group of young innovators to solve real-world business challenges. After emerging victorious at the national level, the team went on to compete at the international level with other winners from 25 nations.
The winning project of the team, Jaco Natural Jackfruit Chips, was a sustainable, healthy snack made from jackfruit, available in variety of flavours such as Classic Savoury, BBQ Delight, Achari Twist. The product impressed the judges with its innovative approach, potential for scale and commitment to sustainability, well positioning the team as 2nd runner-up in the competition at the global level.
Reflecting on their global experience, the team stated their excitement and pride, stating that it was a great feat for BUP and a great exposure showcasing the brilliant talent of the youth of Bangladesh.
