The final leg of the journey to break the blockade
The huge fleet of the Global Sumud flotilla set off for Gaza with high hopes of breaking the Israeli blockade. However, only one boat from that fleet is still on the journey. It is floating in the sea very close to Gaza. Israeli authorities have said that this chapter will end soon.
Israel claims: End of provocation
According to The Times of Israel, this attempt to break the Israeli naval blockade in the Gaza Strip has ended without any major incidents. On Thursday afternoon, the Israeli Foreign Ministry said that the Global Sumud flotilla’s ‘provocation’ has effectively ended. None of the Hamas-Sumud boats succeeded in breaking the ‘legal naval blockade’ or entering the active war zone.

Passengers’ condition
The Israeli ministry confirmed that all passengers are safe and sound. They are being taken to Israel and from there will be sent to Europe. However, a ship with possible mechanical problems is still in the sea near Gaza. If it heads towards the war zone, it will be intercepted.
Flotilla Tracker and Al Jazeera report
Earlier, Al Jazeera reported that Flotilla Tracker had identified most of the fleet of about 44 boats as “definitely intercepted” or “probably intercepted” by the Israeli navy. At that time, it was said that four ships, including the Summertime-Jung and the Shirin, were still underway. Two of the ships were carrying legal aid teams carrying lawyers. In addition, two ships named Mycenae and Marinette are believed to be heading towards Gaza.

However, the Flotilla Tracker website went down shortly after the Israeli ministry’s statement. When accessed at around 5:30 pm, only a map was visible, but the status of the ships was not shown. However, the site was reactivated after a while.
Security of detained workers
The Israeli Foreign Ministry also said that the Gaza workers detained by the flotilla are safe and sound. The naval commandos detained them at sea without causing any problems. The detainees are being brought to the port of Ashdod and from there they will be safely sent to Europe.
