The government has decided to cut the Annual Development Programme (ADP) budget by BDT 49,000 crore, or 18.49%, as project work has slowed down due to the July protests and ongoing political unrest.
Of the total reduction, BDT 30,000 crore will come from government funds, while BDT 19,000 crore will be cut from foreign aid. To address the delays and improve progress, the revised ADP, which was originally set for approval in March, will now be finalized by February.
This decision follows a decade-low rate of project implementation, pushing the government to shift its focus to better resource management and faster execution of key development projects. The adjustments aim to ensure that ongoing challenges do not further derail the country’s development plans.
