The government plans to build mini stadiums in every upazila (sub-district) across Bangladesh to promote sports and healthy activities among youth. Youth and Sports Advisor Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan emphasized the proper use of these stadiums and the importance of encouraging children to participate in sports to stay away from drugs and crime. Nearly 150 mini stadiums have been completed nationwide, and efforts continue to finish the rest.
Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, the Youth and Sports Advisor, announced that mini stadiums will be established in every upazila of the country. He said, “The stadiums should be used for sports activities so that sports lovers and athletes can play. The upazila administration and district sports organizations will ensure the proper use of these stadiums.”
He made these remarks on Saturday (August 9) during the inauguration of mini stadiums in 14 upazilas at the Natore district auditorium.

Proper Use of Stadiums is Crucial
Advisor Asif stressed that the work is not complete just by inaugurating the stadiums, but their correct usage must be ensured.
“All mini stadiums must be developed in a way that they are suitable for playing sports. Nearly 150 mini stadiums have already been completed across the country. Efforts are underway to complete the stadiums in the remaining upazilas,” he added.
Building Stronger Sports Community for National Level Athletes
The interim government advisor further said, “You all must ensure the proper use of these mini stadiums.”
“From here, athletes will rise to the national level. We need cooperation from district, upazila, and divisional levels to strengthen our sports sector. Through sports, social evils like drugs and other negative activities will be eliminated.”
Encouraging Parents to Support Their Children in Sports
He appealed to parents, saying, “Encourage your children to participate more in sports because sports help maintain good health and keep children away from drugs and other crimes.”
Supporting Youth Entrepreneurs Alongside Sports Development
Asif Mahmud also mentioned, “Along with sports, the Youth and Sports Ministry continues to support youth entrepreneurship nationwide. This will help our youth and women become self-reliant through innovation and play an important role in the national economy.”

The inauguration event was attended by Md. Mahbub-ul-Alam, Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports; Asma Shaheen, Deputy Commissioner of Natore; Police Superintendent Amzad Hossain; Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Abul Hayat; Additional Police Superintendent (Sadar Circle) Mahamuda Sharmin Nelly; and other officials from the district.
