The Governor of Bangladesh Bank, Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur, emphasized the necessity of integrating digital financing education and awareness into the school curriculum to enhance financial inclusion in the country. He made these remarks during a seminar organized by the research organization PRI at a hotel in the capital on Thursday evening (October 17). At the event, the Governor revealed that only 28% of the population possesses financial literacy, highlighting the need for a comprehensive roadmap to improve this figure. He also advocated for making internet services more accessible. Speakers at the seminar pointed out that gender disparities still exist in financial inclusion, with marginalized groups such as the disabled and third-gender individuals lagging significantly behind. Additionally, the speakers stressed the importance of expanding services offered by Mobile Financial Services (MFS) providers beyond mere cash-in and cash-out transactions to foster more innovative offerings. The Governor announced that an administrator has been appointed to restructure and strengthen the organization Nagad. He urged the need for increased competition in the MFS market to reduce monopolistic dominance and strengthen the positions of other players.
