On 18 March the government approved separate proposals to procure 2 cargos of LNG, 1.10 crore litres of rice bran oil, and 50,000 tonnes of non Basmati boiled rice to meet the growing national demand.
The decision was made during the 12th meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase at the Bangladesh Secretariat, chaired by Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed. As per the proposals from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, Petrobangla will acquire one LNG cargo from the spot market through international quotations, with the purchase valued at approximately Tk694.47 crore and a per MMBtu price of $14.48 from M/S Total Energies Gas and Power Ltd, United Kingdom.

The government has approved several key procurement proposals to meet national demands. Petrobangla will acquire one LNG cargo from M/S Total Energies Gas and Power Ltd, UK, for Tk682.00 crore at a rate of $14.22 per MMBtu. The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will procure 10,000 tonnes of lentils for Tk94.23 crore through the local Open Tender Method (OTM), priced at Tk94.23 per kg, from M/S Modina Trading Corporation, Dhaka.
Additionally, TCB will purchase 1.10 crore litres of rice bran oil for Tk178.75 crore at Tk162.50 per litre from Green Oil, Majumder Products Ltd, and Majumder Bran Oil Mills Ltd. The Ministry of Food’s Directorate General of Food will procure 50,000 tonnes of non Basmati boiled rice for the current fiscal year from M/S Pattabhi Agro Foods Private Ltd, India, at $429.55 per tonne through international OTM. Additionally, two proposals from the Local Government Division will award works under the Sayedabad Water Treatment Plant Construction Project to China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Co Ltd and HICC-SRC JV.
