Robbery in Early Morning
Robbery in Faridpur: Two robbers snatched a woman’s earrings at gunpoint on Tuesday (October 21) around 6 AM in Uttar Shovaramapur under Ward No. 1 of the municipality. The robbers thought they were taking gold earrings, but later it was found that the jewelry was imitation. The whole incident was caught on CCTV footage from a nearby grocery shop.

The victim was identified as Manju Rani Das (35), wife of local shopkeeper Bishu Das. As usual, she woke up early and was sweeping the road in front of their shop, “Maa Store,” when two men arrived on a motorcycle. Within just a minute and a half, they snatched the earrings from her ears and fled.
Victim’s Statement
Manju Rani Das said,
“প্রতিদিনই আমি দোকানের সামনের রাস্তা ঝাড়ু দিয়ে থাকি। হঠাৎ করে মোটরসাইকেলে দুইজনে আসে। এসেই আমার পাশে দাঁড়িয়ে কানের দুল ধরে টান দেয়। তখন পিস্তল বের করে বলে- চিৎকার করলে গুলি করে দেব। ভয়ে আমি নিজেই খুলে তাদের হাতে দিয়েছি।”
Translation: “I was sweeping the road as usual when two men arrived on a motorcycle. They suddenly pulled my earrings. One of them pulled out a gun and threatened to shoot if I screamed. Out of fear, I removed the earrings myself and handed them over.”
“সাধারণ ডিম বিক্রি করে আমরা কীভাবে ১৫ লক্ষ কাস্টমার এনেছি—এই বইয়ে আছে তার বাস্তব কাহিনি!”
CCTV Footage Shows the Attack
Her husband, Bishu Das, later checked the CCTV footage from his grocery store. Bishu Das said,
“আমি অনেক রাতে ঘুমিয়েছি। তাই সকালে উঠতে দেরি হয়ে গেছে… সেখানে দেখা যায়, ভোর ৬টা ১০ মিনিটে একটি মোটরসাইকেলে আসেন হেলমেট পরিহিত দুই যুবক। পেছনের যুবক প্রথমে ওই গৃহবধূর কানের দুলে টান দিয়ে ছিনিয়ে নেন। এ সময় সামনের যুবক পিস্তল বের করে তাক করে ভয় দেখান। পরে ওই নারী অপর কানের দুলটি খুলে দেন।”
Translation: “I woke up late and later checked the CCTV footage. It showed two helmeted men arriving on a motorcycle at 6:10 AM. The man on the back pulled off my wife’s earrings, while the one in front pointed a pistol to scare her. Then she removed the other earring herself.”
Other Robberies in the Area
Bishu added that similar incidents had taken place in nearby Ambikapur Badiapara and Shovaramapur Phultola in the past three days. Bishu further said, “If the robbers are not caught soon, they might continue committing such crimes.”

Police Investigation Underway
Faridpur Kotwali Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge Md. Asaduzzaman said they are already looking into the matter. The OC said,
“We are investigating the incident and trying to identify and arrest those involved.”
