Bangladesh’s glory on the world stage in Cairo: Humaira Masud’s historic success
Bangladesh has once again made its name shine in the international arena. Hafeza Humaira Masud has won first place in the women’s category of the International Quran Recitation Competition held in Cairo, Egypt.
The competition was organized by the Indonesian Quran Reciters Association, in which 143 competitors from 12 countries participated. Humaira’s extraordinary recitation excelled among competitors from different parts of the world and brought her this glorious victory.
Award distribution ceremony at Cairo’s traditional premises
On Tuesday, November 11, the winners were announced in a modest ceremony at the Ar-Rawzah Al-Hussainiya premises in the Al-Muski area of Cairo, which is rich in Islamic heritage.
Sheikh Fawzi Al-Barbari Azhari, the Imam of the renowned Al-Azhar Mosque and a prominent reciter, presented the awards to the winners.

Bangladesh’s Humaira Masud tops the women’s category
In the category reserved for women, Bangladesh’s Hafeza Humaira Masud won first place. Indonesia’s Ayesha Izzat Muslima and Kairani Nafsul Mutmainna won second and third places in the same category. On the other hand, Nigeria’s Bashir Usman Imam won first place in the men’s category.
Humaira’s previous international achievements
This is not Humaira Masud’s first international success. Earlier, she won second place in the International Hifzul Quran Competition held in Jordan in 2010.
Later, in 2025, she won 5th place in the non-Arab category among competitors from 60 countries around the world in the 31st International Quran Competition organized by the Ministry of Awqaf in Egypt.
Husband’s reaction: ‘Proud moment for Bangladesh’
Expressing joy at his wife’s success, Maulana Masum Billah Gulzar Azhari said,
এটি নিঃসন্দেহে বাংলাদেশের জন্য এক গৌরবময় অর্জন। তার বিজয় কেবল ব্যক্তিগত প্রতিভার স্বীকৃতি নয়, বরং বাংলাদেশের ধর্মীয় সংস্কৃতি, তিলাওয়াতের ঐতিহ্য এবং কোরআনপ্রেমী জাতি হিসেবে আমাদের মর্যাদাকেও বিশ্ব দরবারে উজ্জ্বল করেছে।
Translation: This is undoubtedly a glorious achievement for Bangladesh. His victory is not only a recognition of personal talent, but also has highlighted Bangladesh’s religious culture, tradition of recitation and our status as a Quran-loving nation in the world.
About her education and personal life
Hafeza Humaira Masud, a child of Chandpur, completed her Hifz from Umme Aiman (RA) International Girls’ Madrasa in Narayanganj. She is currently studying at the Faculty of Islamic Theology at Egypt’s prestigious Al-Azhar University.
