Hasnat Abdullah’s Strong Stand on Independent Candidacy
National Citizen Party (NCP)’s Chief Organizer of the Southern Region, Hasnat Abdullah, has said that he will contest the election alone, even if that means losing.
Hasnat Abdullah firmly stated that he will continue his work for Debidwar with the support of even a few voters. Hasnat said,
Translation: “Not five hundred, even if I get only ten votes, I will continue working for Debidwar with those ten voters. Still, I will not join any alliance; I will contest alone, even if I lose.”
Responding to Comments About Alliances
Hasnat said some people comment that he will not even get 500 votes without joining a coalition. He explained that he is meeting people across Debidwar to win the support of those same voters.
During a yard meeting at Rajamehar Union on Friday night (December 5), after a mass walk, he mentioned community reactions regarding alliances.
Translation: “They prefer the party, not the individual. I told them that even if we get only ten votes, we will still stand alone.”
Youth and Students Joining NCP
Hasnat shared that educated young people and students from Debidwar have already joined the NCP. Students from different universities are coming home during study breaks to help him with campaigns. He said,
Translation: “The youth whose conscience is not compromised are joining Shapla Koli. Many women are joining Shapla Koli, and their husbands will also join.”
He added that he does not need money or agents for the election:
Translation: “I will not need money or agents for this election. Those who come to vote will be my agents and the guardians of my votes.”
Promises for Migrant Workers
Hasnat Abdullah highlighted the harassment faced by migrant workers from Bangladesh—from the time of applying for a passport until receiving their salary abroad.
He promised that if he is elected, he will build a language learning institute in Debidwar to help migrant workers prepare better. He also committed to setting up a skill development centre to improve the abilities of those going abroad for work.
