Employees from various ministries and departments continued their protest for the third consecutive day against the approval of the “Government Jobs (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025.”
Hasnat Abdullah the chief organizer for the southern region of the National Citizens’ Party (NCP). Hasnat Abdullah Warns Protesters “During the July uprising, you wore black badges to show support for Sheikh Hasina. And now, you threaten to shut down government offices. Before August 5, even after pointing fingers at Sheikh Hasina and questioning her authority, not a single one of you resigned.”
‘জুলাই অভ্যুত্থান চলাকালে আপনারা কালো ব্যাজ ধারণ করে শেখ হাসিনাকে সমর্থন জানিয়েছিলেন। এখন আপনারা অফিস চলতে দেবেন না বলে হুমকি দেন। ৫ আগস্টের আগে শেখ হাসিনার চোখে আঙুল দিয়ে, শেখ হাসিনার ক্ষমতাকে প্রশ্নবিদ্ধ করে আপনারা কিন্তু কেউ পদত্যাগ করেন নাই।’
On Monday morning, the NCP’s Chattogram North District road-meeting program began. Before the start of the event, at around 12:30 PM, Hasnat Abdullah spoke to journalists at Biplob Udyan, located in the 2 No. Gate area of Chattogram city.
When a journalist asked for his comment on the ongoing protest at the Secretariat, Hasnat Abdullah addressed the protesters directly, saying that “If the fascist Awami League government had remained in power, you would have gladly licked their boots and continued your jobs. So in post–August 5 Bangladesh, if you stand in opposition to this government and obstruct the reform process in front of the people, then remember the people themselves will find your replacement.”
‘ফ্যাসিবাদী আওয়ামী লীগ সরকার টিকে গেলে আপনারা ঠিকই পদলেহন করে চাকরি করতেন। সুতরাং ৫ আগস্ট–পরবর্তী বাংলাদেশে আপনারা যদি জনগণের মুখোমুখি দাঁড়িয়ে এ সরকারকে হুমকি দেন ও সংস্কার কার্যক্রমে বাধা দেন, তবে মনে রাখবেন, জনগণই আপনাদের বিকল্প খুঁজে নেবে।’
Hasnat posed a rhetorical question is that “Before August 5, did any secretary, any bureaucrat, or any government employee resign? Did even a single person resign? When citizens were being shot and killed in the streets, did we hear of any secretary or official resigning in protest? No. But now that this new government has begun its work, instead of cooperating, they are creating obstacles.”
‘৫ আগস্টের আগে কোনো সচিব, কোনো আমলা বা কোনো কর্মকর্তা-কর্মচারী কি পদত্যাগ করেছেন। একজনও কি পদত্যাগ করেছেন। রাস্তার মধ্যে নাগরিকদের যে এভাবে গুলি করে হত্যা করছিল, তখন কি একজন সচিব বা আমলার পদত্যাগের খবর এসেছিল? কিন্তু এই সরকারের কার্যক্রম শুরু হওয়ার পর তাঁরা সহযোগিতা না করে বাধা হয়ে দাঁড়াচ্ছেন।’

Hasnat Abdullah further stated that trying to hold the government hostage will not improve the situation. He said:
“There are millions of Hasnat Abdullahs in Bangladesh. As long as this Hasnat Abdullah is alive, if there is any obstruction to the reform initiative, it will be strongly resisted with the people’s support. Do not think you are irreplaceable the people will find a replacement for you. So cooperate with the government. Support the reform initiatives. If you have any comments or reviews about the reforms, resolve them through internal discussions among yourselves. But if you try to hold the government hostage, the outcome will not be good.”
‘বাংলাদেশে লাখ লাখ হাসনাত আবদুল্লাহ আছেন। এই হাসনাত আবদুল্লাহ বেঁচে থাকতে এই সংস্কার কার্যক্রমে যদি বাধা আসে, সেটি কঠোর হাতে জনগণকে সঙ্গে নিয়ে প্রতিরোধ করা হবে। আপনারা এটা ভাববেন না যে আপনাদের বিকল্প নাই। জনগণ বিকল্প খুঁজে নেবে। সুতরাং সরকারকে সহযোগিতা করুন। সংস্কার কার্যক্রমকে সহযোগিতা করুন। সংস্কার কার্যক্রম নিয়ে যদি আপনাদের কোনো পর্যালোচনা থাকে, তবে সেটি আপনারা নিজেরা আলোচনা করে সমাধান করুন। সরকারকে যদি জিম্মি করেন, সেটার পরিস্থিতি ভালো হবে না।’
