“I was supposed to die first. I perform my duties in this building every day. I stay here until 1:30 PM daily. I was here yesterday too. When I went over there, I saw smoke, fire, and heard cries all around. Seeing this situation, I was stunned.”
These words were spoken by the head peon of Milestone School and College, who had been working in that building for a long time.
He further said—
“I am responsible as the head peon of this building. Every day, I see the students’ smiling faces and hand them over to their guardians. Yesterday’s accident feels like a nightmare. I stay here every day, I was supposed to go first. But, it was the little children who died—what fault did they have?”

Saying these words, he broke down in tears. On Monday, July 21, 2025, at noon, a Bangladesh Air Force FT-7 BAI fighter aircraft crashed into a building of Milestone School and College during a training mission due to mechanical failure. Most of the casualties in the accident are school students.
The head peon’s statement is not just a personal grief but also leaves a deep mark of sorrow on the heart of a nation.
