Senegalese football star Sadio Mane has encountered some incredible experiences while playing in Saudi Arabia, but one moment with Bangladeshi expatriates has left a lasting impression on his heart.
In an interview with former English footballer and presenter Rio Ferdinand, Mané recounted the emotional story and also spoke about the extraordinary professionalism of his teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.
Reflecting on his experience in Saudi Arabia, Sadio Mane said, “Honestly, I was amazed. The people here are incredibly sincere.”
He particularly recalled an incident during Ramadan. One day while walking on the street, a group of Bangladeshi expatriates invited him to join them for Iftar.
Describing the moment, Mane said, “I jokingly told them, ‘You don’t even know me! How can I sit with you?’ But they said it was no problem. They surprised me and invited me again.”

When Ferdinand asked if they recognized him before inviting him, Mane replied, “They didn’t know who I was. Their generous spirit, willingness to share food, and sense of togetherness truly touched my heart.”
The interview also highlighted Cristiano Ronaldo’s influence at Al-Nassr. Sadio Mane expressed his admiration for the 40-year-old superstar’s performance and leadership. He said, “Ronaldo is a unique example for every footballer. I have never seen a player like him in my life.”
Mane added, “He works hard every day and keeps his hunger for victory alive even at 40. He is a complete athlete. His habit of arriving early for training and spreading a spirit of teamwork in the squad is unmatched.”
