Hero Alom Announces Candidacy Again
Popular content creator and model Ashraful Alom, widely known as Hero Alom, has announced that he will run for a seat in the upcoming national parliamentary election.
Unlike before, this time Hero Alom plans to contest from Dhaka-17 constituency, instead of his previous stronghold Bogura. This seat includes areas like Dhaka Cantonment, Gulshan, Banani, Baridhara, Mohakhali, and parts of Mirpur.
Currently, the most talked-about contender for the same seat is Andaleeve Rahman Partha from the Bangladesh National Party (BJP). Other parties, including Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh and NCPC, are also fielding candidates. For now, Hero Alom is expected to run as an independent candidate, though he has confirmed that several political parties have approached him.
His Statement on Election Goals
Hero Alom described his participation as a symbol of protest, not just a race for victory.
Translation: “For me, participating in the election isn’t just about winning — it’s also a form of protest. I’ve done it before, and I’ll do it again. Everyone wants a fair election, and so do I. There’s too much confusion around it now. Even if I get only 100 votes, that’s fine — I just want a proper and festive election where people come to vote freely.”

Possible Party Alliance Still Uncertain
Hero Alom mentioned he has been in discussions with several political parties but has not finalized anything yet.
Translation: “I’m talking with leaders of several parties but haven’t made any final decision. I’m evaluating whether I can agree with their proposals. If things match, I may join a party — otherwise, I’ll contest as an independent candidate.”
Hero Alom said he wants to represent the poor, marginalized, and neglected citizens in parliament.
Translation: “I want to go to parliament as the representative of the poor, marginalized, and neglected people. I believe the real strength of this country lies in those hardworking citizens who drive it forward but are often denied the services they deserve. I want to work for them and be among them.”

His Political Journey So Far
Hero Alom previously contested from Bogura as an independent candidate in the 2018 national election, where his nomination was initially rejected twice but later reinstated by a court order. He ran with the Lion symbol but withdrew on election day, alleging vote rigging.
Later, he ran again from Dhaka-17 during the by-election following the death of actor and MP Akkbor Hossain Pathan Farooq. During that election, he was attacked at a polling center, which drew condemnation from multiple countries, including the US, UK, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, and the European Union.
