Hilsha Jump onto Coal Ship Near Payra Port

Sailors of the coal-carrying lighter vessel MV KSL Gladiator experienced an unbelievable moment in the Bay of Bengal. The incident happened about 70 km from the first buoy of the Rabnabad Channel near Payra Port.

How the Incident Happened

On Thursday afternoon, while the ship was heading toward the jetty of Payra Thermal Power Plant, a large group of small hilsha fish suddenly began jumping along both sides of the ship.

Five Maunds of Fish Land on Deck

According to the sailors, many of those hilsha jumped directly onto the deck.
They managed to collect around five maunds of hilsha, while the rest fell back into the sea.

The incident was so surprising that ship engineer Rabiul Hossain recorded a 10-second video showing the rare moment.
